NYC Contributors
NYC is funded through a grant from the Michigan Department of Education and cash contributions from the CISD and thirteen local school districts. In addition NYC receives matching funds from the Binda Foundation, Kellogg Company, the Miller Foundation, the Battle Creek Community Foundation and W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

NYC is a collaborative effort with status as a workgroup of the Coordinating Council of Calhoun County (MPCB). NYC partners include Family & Children Services, Lifespan, and Calhoun County Department of Public Health.

Early Childhood
Recognizing that school success requires that children spend their first years in nurturing, stimulating environments, early childhood programs focus on supporting and encouraging parents as they cultivate healthy, stimulating relationships with their young children. Because parents are their children’s first and most important teachers, the CISD, working in collaboration with local schools, provides services to families through three early childhood programs: Great Parents, Great Start; Network for young Children; and Calhoun Early On.
